It was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces and beautiful ferrets this year. NOVA FM broadcase their morning segment from Tomato Lake so our numbers were somewhat swollen by members of the general public who were, for the most part, fascinated by the proceedings. Ursula was kepy busy all day with answering queries from them and selling information packs. In the "Ferret Necessities" tent, Chris and Shona were kept busy too. There were 137 ferrets entered in 29 different categories, totalling 635 entries in all. That's a lot of judging! Special thanks to the judges and their helpers who worked so hard and had to make some pretty tough decisions during the day. Cathy Cahill made sure everybody received one of the special ferret chocolates that she made herself. They were almost too beautiful to eat. Thanks Cathy. The Fancy Dress section was awe-inspiring as usual. Despite some ferrets being less than thrilled to wear their costumed, they all deserved prized for the time, effort and imagination that went into dressing them. One memorable highlight of the show, was when a senior ferret was named Ferret of the Day over all of the big boofy youngsters. Let's hear it for good ferret care. By the time that the award ceremony was underway, it was getting a bit chilly so it was just as well that we finished in record time this year. I can hardly wait for next year's show. Shirley |
